Lyric 3/14

Lyric worked on in-hand, on-the-flat lunging, and lateral work today. He was introduced to the dressage ring, worked on the lunge in both directions, with sidereins and a surcingle. The emphasis was on transitions and balance in the left lead canter. I introduced the idea of using a lunge cavesson with a nosering versus "regular" lunging attached to the bit. He was very receptive to "giving" to the nose pressure. I worked him in hand with 45 degree head to the wall, making him step OUT with that left hind, and also worked on turn on the forehand as well, having him step laterally in LARGE steps with the hind. Lastly, I hooked up his reins to the bridle and did half-passing in hand with him and he was extremely receptive to it. He performed it with ease (YEA!!!!) and we'll be practicing this ALOT in walk and trot both in hand and under saddle.
